Though I was built from the Blues
All I see is Energeia Yellows
Eons ago found sunshine in a bottle
In the murkiest of Bays
That I had to scratch my way out of.
Branded it into my Heart’s solstice
Now…it’s Light
It’s Warmth
All wrapped around me
From the Inside Out.
Distilled the mud from my eyes and lungs
Fashioning intricate and beautiful patterns of needlework
Upon my quintessence.
The meaning of my life raises to protect it
Never to wall in, this ball of fire
Only to share it
Brightening your pitch-black and blue days too
Yet you wrestle with me
Set on diminishing…taking it away
Reluctant to share it or refuel it
Oblivious that it is now a part of my life force.
Confounding me with your actions
That makes me feel less worthy
Of carrying this evolutionary light
Fiercely I hold on
Picking up the pieces of my smile
That you have kicked around
Sprinkled on the Nile
Unwilling to let go the memory of myself
That warm and peaceful place
I now call Home.
