Facts:
1. I have an eclectic taste in music and listen to a versatile mix of genres and different ethos/cultures. However, I listen to a lot of French music though I don’t speak the language, for I believe if music is truly beautiful there is no need for words. Edith Piaf is one of my favorite French singers that recorded one of her first songs in the 1930’s, followed by more modern loves; Zaz, Carla Bruni and Stacey Kent.
2. I use to do track and field in primary school and compete against other schools in Jamaica and was considered one of the fastest. However, when I went to high school I qualified for a catholic school that focused more on academics instead of athletics (and I just could not afford to give up the opportunity, since it was quite difficult to get accepted to that school because of the high grade requirements, so my Mom didn’t give me a choice). Subsequently, I stopped running/training and books became my anchor and escape route. However, I often think back on what it would be like if I had continued and was able to get the opportunity to get sponsored/compete at the international level with other countries. For a few other students that I use to win or go neck to neck with. End up moving to out of town country schools, that focused more on athletics and went on to develop further and do very well as professional athletes.
3. My father was a cruel man while growing up to my mom and threatened our safety and peace. As a result of some of the anguish and madness perpetuated in my family, I couldn’t wait to grow up and forget. I have not spoken to or seen my father in about 15 years and it is a great relief to me, but the memories are still very painful. However, I am not afraid of my father or do I hate him, I am more indifferent…so there is no feeling towards that end. I don’t think I suffer from Daddy issues either (but who knows?). All I do know is that since I grew up, I have been quite lucky to create my own reality/peace, as well as, meet some really good men. So I know for a fact my father was just a bad seed and one just have to refuse to tolerate that kind of persona.
4. I usually get the inclination to buy lotto tickets once in a blue moon. However, when I buy them I have a habit of not checking them at all or after several months 🙂 . As a result a few years ago I won about $15,000 but could not collect it, as the claim time had long gone!!. Can you imagine if that was a lot more? LOL 🙂 …I have got to get a grip when I decide to play or not play at all…GEssh!!
5. I don’t watch TV or cable, but I am a Netflix fanatic. I have about 400 movies in my movie list now. Many of which I have already watched over a period of time and graded them. If they are a 4 or 5 based on my rating, I keep them in the list, anything less is eliminated.
6. I have been told I am a workaholic and a perfectionist and I agree somewhat. However, I believe I am more the type that like to get things done the right way from the start. Instead of wasting time cutting corners and being mediocre at something when I know I can do much better. However, I have been learning to use that as a strength and let go off it when it gets in the way. On the other hand I can be quite a klutz. I know…a perfectionist in denial and a confirmed klutz is quite a paradox 🙂 . Prone to falling without warning ( so just imagine if I was doing # 7 below?). However, I am quite agile in getting up off the floor so quickly during a sprawl, before you can come to terms with what happened (so that agility must be the athlete in me still working to my advantage) :).
7. I don’t drink alcohol, not because of religious reasons or an effort to be good, it is just by choice. However, my fridge and pantry has a good amount of beers, wine and strong mixtures. This is to ensure, I don’t push my choice on my friends and I have more than water to give them when they visit. Since all of them drink socially, which is fine with me 🙂 . On the other hand, I use Vodka a lot, but for cleaning things. I swear there is a lot of things you can use Vodka to do other than drinking 🙂 . But don’t take just my word for it, check the these additional facts here: 21 Amazing Alternate Uses for Vodka Besides Drinking It
Alright this fact trivia was kind of fun and revealing for me :). Hope you enjoy it too.
